Medical
support is health coverage provided for a child by a custodial parent, a
non-custodial parent or any other responsible party, or cash payments to
help pay the cost of Medicaid or the State Child Health Insurance
Program (SCHIP). As of October 1, 2005, every child support order
enforced by a state child support enforcement agency must include a
provision for medical support. States must use the National Medical
Support Notice (NMSN) in all IV-D cases to enforce medical support
provisions. On October 1, 2007, a new medical support performance
indicator will be in effect by the IV-D program. It is critical that
states begin preparing now to meet the new performance requirements or
risk significant loss of federal incentive dollars due to deficient
performance or unreliable data.
Our
comprehensive solution, MedSMART®, provides complete
support for states to meet and exceed the performance indicators for
medical support enforcement. Using a phased approach, states can begin
NOW to implement effective strategies.
